Transitions: September-December 2016
The past three months has been a time of testing and discovery as God leads us into the new year. At the present time we have been experimenting with different styles of worship music; a little of the old, and a little of then new. We started a choir at the end of August, but then sickness disrupted our efforts. With the coming of the Advent season, the choir has resumed practice, and the return was welcomed by the congregation. At present, we are preparing for the annual Christmas program, with Ellen Ecksten overseeing the children’s production. The parsonage, is getting an overhaul from helping hands in the congregation. Extra thanks to Hank, Dave, and Shirley for all of their hard work. In October, we began a small group ministry centered upon loving relationships, using the award winning program by Dr. Gary Smalley. After the first of the year, we plan to launch a ministry for men with the possibility of joining forces with the men of Crosslake Assembly of God. At the present time our focus is on building up the Children’s Sunday school program, and in the near future launching a program for youth ministries, possibly AWANAS, or a similar program. God is good and He has been calling us into deeper waters. It is a time of expectancy as we are experiencing transitions in the nation, and within our church family. I look forward to seeing how God will lead us individually and as a corporate body for His glory and purposes in our community.
